ATS/IDSA/CDC release new guidelines on tuberculosis diagnosis

The updated guidelines now recommend testing for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) using an IGRA in individuals who are 5 years or older and who are likely to be infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), regardless of BCG vaccination.1 In individuals who are unlikely to be infected with MTB, but TB testing is required, IGRAs are now the recommended test method.1
